However, some industry insiders believe that China's mining machinery is generally 15 to 20 years behind the international advanced level, and most of the technical sources of the products are imported from abroad after the mid-1980s. The market share of mining machinery products in the domestic market is less than 80%. Most of the imported products are large, precise, sharp, and have strong completeness, such as coal mining machines, large and efficient separation equipment, crushing and grinding equipment, and full section joint tunneling machines.

Since the reform and opening up, the mining machinery field has been using market for technology as the main way to improve product technology level. Throughout the development process of mechanical design in various countries around the world, it mainly involves the evolution from single machine product design to single machine product process design, and then to complete equipment process design. China's general mining machinery manufacturing only completes the design and manufacturing of single machine products, and the process flow design for equipment use is done by professional design institutes. The process requirements for single machine products are also proposed by professional design institutes and assisted by manufacturing plants to complete, which results in a disconnect between equipment manufacturing plants and equipment use departments. Experts believe that in the current situation where the process design of various enterprises in the mining machinery manufacturing industry is relatively weak, in addition to quickly organizing forces to enter the role in their own professional fields with good conditions, different forms of alliances should be established with foreign companies and domestic professional design institutes, including forming groups, consortia, introducing technology, introducing talents, etc., striving to adopt joint design methods in a certain engineering project, intervening first and then improving, and achieving a win-win situation.
