On July 20, 2015, at the invitation of Anhui Yongsheng Machinery Co., Ltd., Professor Song Weigang, a doctoral supervisor from Northeastern University, came to our company to give a report and conduct technical exchanges. The report meeting was held in the company conference room. Professor Song gave a detailed introduction on the development status of belt conveyors both domestically and internationally, the technical requirements for coal mine belt conveyors, the gap between Chinese and foreign standards for belt conveyors, the main resistance calculation in the design of bulk material belt conveyors, key technologies for horizontal turning, supporting equipment for open-pit coal mine belt conveyors, and the calculation of transportation volume for deep groove belt conveyors. Before the report meeting, Professor Song, accompanied by company leaders, went to the workshop to gain an on-site understanding of the process and production situation. After the report meeting, on-site discussions were held with the attendees on the problems encountered in the design and use of belt conveyors.
Professor Song Weigang graduated from Northeastern University with a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1988 and a PhD in Engineering in 1996. Current professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Northeastern University, and deputy director of the Institute of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, Northeastern University. Director of China Logistics Society, Vice Chairman of Logistics Engineering Branch of Liaoning Mechanical Engineering Society, Executive Director of Logistics Engineering Branch of China Mechanical Engineering Society, Member of National Standardization Technical Committee for Continuous Handling Machinery, and Director of Belt Conveyor Branch of China Heavy Machinery Industry Association. At present, I am mainly engaged in teaching and research on modern logistics technology and equipment, mechatronics technology, and robot kinematics, dynamics, and control. Published over 100 papers. Hosted or participated in over 20 scientific research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Published over 20 books, textbooks, and translations. Has won multiple scientific research awards, including the first prize of Liaoning Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award and the second prize of China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award.
Professor Song Weigang is a pivotal expert in the field of belt conveyors in China, dedicated to the design of electromechanical systems for bulk material conveying and loading and unloading equipment for a long time. What is even more commendable is that his scientific research achievements have a very high industrial conversion rate. Over the years, the belt conveyor system designed by him has created immeasurable value for many enterprises.
