Reasons for slippage of belt conveyor
Author:
Belt conveyors may experience some slippage during use. What are the reasons that can cause belt conveyors to slip? Let's take a detailed look with Yongsheng Machinery editor!
1. Insufficient belt tension
If the belt does not have sufficient tension, there will be insufficient frictional driving force between the drive pulley and the belt, which will prevent the belt and load from being pulled. The tensioning device of a belt conveyor generally includes several structures such as spiral tensioning, hydraulic tensioning, heavy hammer tensioning, and vehicle garbage. Improper molding or adjustment of screws or hydraulic tensioning devices, insufficient weight of heavy hammer tensioning and vehicle type tensioning devices, and mechanism jamming can cause insufficient tensioning of the belt conveyor, resulting in slippage
2. The rubber coating on the drive drum is severely worn
The driving drum of a belt conveyor is generally treated with glue coating or casting, and herringbone or diamond grooves are added to the rubber surface mainly to increase friction. After long-term operation of the belt conveyor, the rubber surface and grooves of the driving drum will become severe, which will further lead to a decrease in the friction coefficient and friction force of the driving drum, resulting in belt slippage.
3. There is water, oil, etc. on the non working ground of the belt
Due to changes in the natural environment, on-site ground flushing, equipment maintenance, and other reasons, when lubricating attachments such as water and oil adhere to non working surfaces of the belt, the belt conveyor will accumulate on the driving surface. During operation, the drum causes a significant decrease in friction between the rollers and the belt, resulting in slippage.
4. Overload of belt conveyor
Due to improper operation or excessive load, the belt conveyor may run under excessive load, or the belt conveyor may start with a load, causing overloading and resulting in belt slippage.
5. Head material blockage
If the blockage of the discharge pipe of the belt conveyor is not detected in time, it will cause a large number of drilling holes to accumulate in the machine head and non working face, crush the belt, and cause slippage.
That's all for today's sharing about the reasons why belt conveyors may slip. You can pay more attention to Yongsheng Machinery!
